The Hudson Police Department has established and implemented a body-worn camera program for all sworn police officers. The program requires officers to record their interactions with citizens while responding to calls for service or during officer-initiated events, such as traffic stops, field encounters, and serving court orders. All footage captured by officers is stored on a cloud-based system for a period of time dictated by department policy. Requests for copies of the footage are subject to the Massachusetts Public Records Law.
The Town of Hudson has entered into an agreement with Axon to purchase the Axon Body 3 body-worn cameras and the Axon Taser 7 Electronic Control Weapon, inclusive of all necessary licensing and storage. The department dedicated significant efforts towards policy development, technology infrastructure updates, and personnel training before implementing the program. The Hudson Police Department is proud to have successfully launched its body-worn camera program in May of 2023.
