Chief of Police

Chief Richard Dipersio.

Chief DiPersio was born and raised in the Hudson community, having attended all the local schools including Hudson High School. Go Hawks! He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Massachusetts Lowell. He is a graduate of the FBI Leeda Leadership Trilogy, and he has received numerous citations for exemplary service. Chief DiPersio began his career as a reserve police officer for the Hudson Police Department 1997. He was appointed full time in 1999 and spent the next 10 years assigned to the patrol division.

In 2006 he was appointed as a Field Training Officer, responsible for the training of new recruits upon graduation from the police academy. He progressed through the leadership ranks of Sergeant (appointed 2009), Lieutenant (appointed 2012), and Captain (appointed 2015). As Captain he was second in command to the Chief of Police, responsible for the day to day operations of the entire department, which includes 36 sworn personal and an additional 22 full and part-time civilian staff. Throughout his career at the Hudson Police Department, Chief DiPersio has participated in numerous assignments in patrol, investigations, professional standards, recruitment, and administration. He was appointed Chief of Police in March of 2020. Chief DiPersio has a strong commitment to community policing, believing every interaction an officer makes with a community member is an opportunity to build a relationship. He encourages all staff to engage all community stakeholders and work collaboratively to solve problems.

Under Chief DiPersio, the departments first Community Action Team was implemented in 2021. This group of dedicated employees works throughout each year to plan, coordinate, and conduct a wide variety of community events. His ultimate goal is for the department to be the very best it can, providing top notch police services for the community it serves.

Personally, Rick enjoys spending time with family and friends and working out. He has coached youth and high school football for many years and is proud to have watched and coached both of his sons.
