Hudson Police Drone Unit Locates Missing Juveniles

On February 7, 2024 at approx. 7:45pm, Hudson Police received calls reporting bright lights being shone into passing vehicles from a wood line. Officers were dispatched and two juveniles fled into the woods at the sight of police. The officers had information these juveniles had been reported as missing earlier in the day from a neighboring community. One juvenile was quickly located while the other fled into a thick, dense wooded area. It was dark, cold, and most likely the juvenile would have crossed through water.

A drone deployment was authorized and Ofc. Josh Rahn deployed the department drone. Approximately 1700ft into the woods from where the juvenile had entered, the drone found the juvenile laying down after about 26 minutes of searching. Officer’s Andrew Garceau and Sgt. Sam Leandres were directed to this location by the drone operator and located the juvenile. Both missing juveniles were transported to the hospital for evaluation, and the parties reporting them as missing were contacted. Another valuable resource with proven credibility and reliability.
