Hudson Police Share Safety Tips Amidst End-of-School-Year Activities

Hudson Police would like to share safety tips and information about underage drinking as end-of-year activities are gearing up.

The end of the school year is right around the corner and includes end-of-year activities such as the Prom and graduation. Hudson Police would like to emphasize the dangers of driving under the influence and underage drinking.

Hudson Police is committed to the safety and security of the community and would like to share the following information from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC):

  • The legal drinking age is 21 years old.
  • It is illegal to provide alcohol to anyone under the legal age of 21. This also includes if minors are drinking on your property or in your home.
  • Never get behind the wheel if you have been drinking or are under the influence of drugs, and do not get in the car with someone who is under the influence.
  • Operating under the influence is illegal.
  • Drinking can have serious effects on health, safety, and well-being

Hudson Police also wants to remind residents, homeowners, and parents of the Social Host Law, which prohibits serving alcohol to underage guests or individuals while they are on your property. Social hosts will be held responsible for providing alcohol to minors and may be prosecuted criminally.

“We want this time to be fun for everyone as they embark on the next chapter of their lives, whether it be going to college, working, or preparing for another exciting year in Hudson. We also want students and the public to remain safe as they celebrate these milestones. Their safety is our top priority, and we want to ensure everyone can enjoy the end of the year in a safe and smart manner,” said Chief DiPersio.

Hudson Police wishes everyone a happy and safe end to the school year.
