Welcome, Officer Brandon Payne-Drouin

Please join us in welcoming our newest police officer, Ofc. Brandon Payne-Drouin (#145)!

Ofc. Payne-Drouin graduated the 33rd Municipal Recruit Officer Class on Friday, May 3rd at a ceremony held at Fitchburg State University. He was officially sworn in this morning at Town Hall amongst proud family and friends.

At the academy graduation ceremony, Ofc. Payne-Drouin was awarded the Officer Ronald Tarentino Jr. Award, which is given to a recruit that shows the same qualities that Ofc. Tarentino exemplified. Ofc. Tarentino of the Auburn Police Department was tragically killed in the line of duty on May 22, 2016, and had attended the same police academy. The award is given to a recruit officer who demonstrated a high standard for excellence in leadership, and was a positive influence and a motivator to others in the class, just as Ron was. The candidate for this award is selected by the academy director and staff instructors. The award was presented to Ofc. Payne-Drouin by Ofc. Tarentino’s sister and father. 💙

Ofc. Payne-Drouin will be assigned to our field training unit where he will be assigned to a field training officer (FTO) for a minimum of 11 weeks. He will apply his academy knowledge into real world settings. He will be evaluated, assessed, and tested by his FTO’s each day to monitor his progress. We know he will jump right into our community engagement efforts as he already volunteers his time as a youth football coach here in town.

Ofc. Payne-Drouin is an outstanding addition to HPD and we are excited to get him started! Congrats Ofc. Payne-Drouin and welcome to HPD! We wish you the very best as you embark on this journey in public service.
