Hudson Police Investigating Alleged Swatting Incident

HUDSON — Chief Richard DiPersio reports that the Hudson Police Department are investigating an alleged swatting incident.

On Saturday, March 23, at approximately 12:40 a.m. Hudson Police dispatch received a call reporting that the caller had shot a family member and was threatening to harm another family member on Fort Meadow Drive.

Hudson Police immediately responded to the home and determined that the report was false, and that there was no danger to residents.

The incident is being investigated by the Hudson Police Department as an act of swatting, which according to Oxford Language is “the action or practice of making a prank call to emergency services in an attempt to bring about the dispatch of a large number of armed police officers to a particular address.”

“I would like to acknowledge our dispatchers and the officers on the patrol shift for their professionalism and utilizing their training and experience to safely respond to this disturbing call,” said Chief DiPersio. “The safety of our community is our top priority. I would like to assure the community we remain dedicated and prepared to protect and serve the residents of Hudson.”

This incident remains under investigation by the Hudson Police Department. More information will be released when it becomes available.
